Do you love movement and dancing in your kitchen? Do you find yourself tapping to the beat? Do you want to feel freedom and joy deep within your body in a way you never have?
To see and be seen in movement and emotion is the power behind intuitive movement. Intuitive movement is an ever-evolving monthly movement group based on ecstatic dance, somatic dance and five rhythms. Everyone moves at their own pace, to their own rhythm to a specially curated set of music that is designed to help facilitate movement and release emotions in a safe environment of like minded individuals. People are encouraged and supported in releasing emotions through their movements. When we allow our emotions to flow in a supportive group environment we become free!
The sessions are approximately two hours in length... but, you will not have to dance for two straight hours! Each session will begin with an introduction to the practice and an invitation to pull a card from a deck of oracle cards to guide your session for the day. We will then move to a standing breathwork or meditation that varies in intensity from session to session and is completely optional. After that we begin free form movement to curated music during which you will be invited to flow through your own movements at your own pace. Some people choose to keep their movements small or lay on the floor while others choose to let loose and move around the room. The music will ebb and flow in intensity and may elicit emotions. You are encouraged and supported in letting your emotions flow. We end with a final meditation to leave you grounded in a place of gratitude.
This is an ever evolving practice and the music is constantly changing based on the theme, feedback and continued experimentation. We generally utilize tribal music, electronic music, familiar vocalists and ethnic music and our live musical sets have healing frequencies programmed in behind them! This practice is for everyone! No dance experience is required. You will be invited to move at your own pace within your own comfort zone. However if you are sensitive to loud sounds/music or have physical or mental health issues that prevent you from being able to comfortably move or stand for extended periods of time, or have recently experienced a traumatic event or injury this may not be the practice for you. If you are unsure, please email me.
Dance through the form of ecstatic dance and five rhythms has been a part of my healing journey for many years and has helped me find freedom and healing through movement and dance... so much so that I actually got certified in facilitating and encouraged my husband to get certified in how to DJ and create sets specifically for healing dance work. We want to share this work with the world!
